Two members of a hacking group called “Crackas With Attitude” were arrested and charged with breaking into U.S. government computer accounts and systems.
A Department of Justice statement said Andrew Otto Boggs, 22, known online as “Incursio,” and Justin Gray Liverman, 24, known as “D3F4ULT,” were arrested Thursday. Court documents accused the two Morehead City, N.C., men of “gaining unlawful access to the personal online accounts of senior U.S. government officials, their families, and several U.S. government computer systems.”
Their alleged actions occurred between October 2015 and February 2016. At least three other people involved in the group are located in the United Kingdom and are under investigation by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The names of those government employees whose computer accounts were compromised were not released.
Boggs and Liverman are scheduled to appear in an Alexandria, Va., federal court next week.
