With the arrest of two more accused today in the alleged slaughtering of cows in a house at Ram Nagar Chhanna village (near Sherpur), the total number of arrested persons has reached eight.Besides, the police also recovered a truck from their possession which was being used for transporting “beef” to Saharanpur from Ram Nagar Chhanna.Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pritpal Singh Thind said Kala Singh, a resident of Tibba village (Sherpur), and Mohammad Nadeem, a resident of Malerkotla, were arrested with the truck from the Tibba area today. He said Nadeem was owner of the truck which was being used by them to transport “beef” to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh (UP).The SSP further said 11 police teams that were formed to nab the remaining accused had been raiding hideouts of the accused in UP as well as in Punjab. He said as many as 24 persons had been nominated as accused in this case so far.Sources in the Police Department said four teams had been conducting raids in four cities of the UP, namely Saharanpur, Moradabad, Lucknow and Muzaffarnagar, while the remaining seven teams were conducting raids in the cities and towns of Punjab.
