Shobha (18), a resident of Uttarakhand, died on the spot here today when she fell while reportedly “alighting” from a moving bus of Punjab Roadways. Her aunt Manju Rani (32) sustained some minor injury and was admitted to the civil hospital here.The injured woman has alleged that the mishap occurred due to negligence on part of the bus conductor as he did not stop the bus despite their requests.Harinder Singh, Station House Officer, city police station, Sangrur, said that Shobha, along with her aunt Manju (a resident of Sangrur), had boarded a bus from Sangrur bus stand for Patiala. But on getting a call on their mobile phone, they asked the conductor to stop the bus.The bus conductor assured them that he would stop the bus at Fountain Chowk here. When the bus slowed down, the girl tried to alight from the moving bus, but fell on the road and died on the spot. On seeing this, her aunt also jumped off the moving bus, the SHO added.
