A 16-year-old girl has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a baby boy in Saskatoon on Sunday.  Officers received a call about an injured infant boy in the 200 block of Waterloo Crescent, in the city’s College Park neighbourhood at around 7 a.m. CST. Police said the injured baby was taken to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

They did not say how old the baby was, or how he was injured.

Police said the girl charged in the death is not related to the baby and was taken into police custody Sunday morning.

She stood before a Justice of the Peace Sunday night and is expected to appear in court Monday morning.
