It happened Sunday afternoon after she sent her daughter, Tovonna, 15, to her room to clean.
“I go to the bathroom, and I couldn’t get in the bathroom,” said Levon Holton Teamer. “The bathroom light was off, so I tried to get in, and I looked down and I saw the puddle of blood.”
Tovonna had taken a gun from her mother’s purse and pulled the trigger.
“I tried to apply the pressure, the pressure to her head,” said Teamer. “I tried to save her.”
Tovonna’s family believes the Snapchat video, taken by a friend of the teen taking a shower and shared with others, was enough to put her over the top. Tovonna’s aunt, Angel Scott, said she learned of the video at about 3 p.m. that day.
“Everybody was out there talking about her and calling her names, and they said it went up on social media, whatever, Snapchat. I’d never heard of it before,” said Tovonna’s aunt, Angel Scott.
About three hours later, Tovonna was dead.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating the death and reported bullying.
