Vice-Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society Avinash Rai Khanna distributed sanction letters regarding issuance of pension to 105 orphans identified by the District Child Protection Society, Hoshiarpur, during a special survey in the district.Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Anindita Nitra was also present. Khanna said the government was committed to help these children. Now, all these children would get Rs 500 per month as dependent pension.He said this would definitely relieve some burden of the guardian. He said if any guardian was unable to look after the child, he could request the District Child Protection Society, Hoshiarpur, and all facilities of boarding and lodging, including education, would be borne by the government.Khanna directed the officials concerned that if any deaf and dumb child comes in their notice, that child could be referred to a special school at Patiala for their proper care and education. In case of a differently abled child, he or she could be referred to the institute for children with special needs.
