A man has died after a head-on collision which trapped both drivers in their cars and closed the Pacific Highway on the NSW north coast for five hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash at a roadworks zone in Telegraph Point, 30km south of Kempsey, about 6.20pm on Sunday.
A 48-year-old Laurieton man was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital where he died, while a 62-year-old man, who was allegedly travelling north in a southbound lane when the collision occurred, remains in John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
