An 18-year-old woman is dead, another person remains in critical condition and seven teenagers are injured following a crash involving a car and a school bus from Collège St-Hilaire in Mont-St-Hilaire Friday afternoon. A 19-year-old man who was also in that car remains in critical condition, according to Capt.Yannick Parent from the Régie intermunicipale Richelieu Saint-Laurent.

In a letter to parents from the school, the administration says several students on the bus suffered minor injuries but were immediately transported to St-Hyacinthe hospital.

Students who are not injured were also brought to hospital as a preventative measure.

A total of 40 students were on the bus.

The collision happened after school hours, at the corner of Highway 116 and Authier Road,  The road will remain closed overnight in both directions while police are investigating.
