At least one person died while another seven, including five policemen, were injured in a roadside blast which targetted a police vehicle in Quetta’s Sariab Road area on Tuesday.

No immediate reports of the nature of the blasts were available.

Police and rescue officials have arrived at the scene of the blast and further investigations are underway.

Although no one has claimed responsibility for the blast in the provincial capital but attacks on security forces by militants are not rare in Balochistan. The province has long been plagued by homegrown separatist insurgency and extremist violence which has left hundreds of people dead in the last couple of years.
