An 80-year-old Toronto man is dead after a crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga on Saturday involving seven vehicles.  Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, spokesperson for the Ontario Provincial Police’s Highway Safety Division, said three other people received minor injuries in the crash.

He said it occurred in the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 east of Dixie Road at about 6 p.m.

Four people in all were taken to hospital, where the Toronto man was pronounced dead.

Schmidt said next of kin are being notified and police are not going to release the man’s name.

Police are still investigating the collision. The stretch of Highway 401 eastbound at Dixie Road and nearby access ramps that were closed have since been reopened.
